2011 PENBROOK PROPERTY OF MERIT PROGRAM
Congratulations to Julia Becoski, the 2011 Penbrook Property of Merit Grand Prize
Award winner! Mayor Cramer presented the award at the PPOM Reception that
was held Wednesday, October 26th at the Penbrook Community Building, 150 S
28th Street, Penbrook, PA. Julia's beautifully manicure gardens and inviting patio
exemplifies the pride of ownership the Property of Merit program seeks to promote.
The PPOM Committee also presents a Founder's Award to the homeowners with
the most interesting story about their home. This year's Founder's Award went to
Lisa and Randy Berrier. Over twenty years ago, the Berriers held their wedding
reception at their new Butler Street home. The same purple clematis that
highlighted that day still bloom in their gardens!
Penbrook Revitalization, Inc sponsors the Property of Merit program with the
support of the Penbrook Borough Council and the Mayor. The theme of the
evening's festivities was "Helping to make Penbrook a cleaner, safer, more beautiful
community". Balloons, festive fall flowers and delicious desserts filled the
Community Building in honor of the fourteen Property of Merit Finalists!
The Central Dauphin East String Ensemble provided wonderful music as the
audience enjoyed a slide show of the Finalists' properties. Brett Thackara, WHTM
27 weatherman and Penbrook resident was the evening's Master of Ceremonies
and speaker. Commendations from Representative Helms, Senator Piccola, the
Dauphin County Commissioners and Governor Corbett, were presented to the
